Lisa Concoff Kronbeck
Public Benefits Specialist
Hi, Iām Lisa Concoff Kronbeck š
I came to the field of disability rights as a person with physical and neurological disabilities myself, and I stayed for the raucous and chaotic journey of being a parent to a child with disabilities. My daughter Leah was born two months early with Down syndrome, VSD, diaphragmatic hernia, and long-gap esophageal atresia. She spent seven months in the ICU before coming home for the first time, and she still has significant ongoing medical care needs. At 11 years old, Leah now relies on g-tube feeds and Sesame Street for sustenance, Disney princesses for inspiration, and deep sighs and side eyes to convey her disapproval.
Experience:
- Eleven years of navigating various systems and agencies on behalf of my daughter
- South Bay Down Syndrome Association (now Club 21 South Bay) – Former board member
- Two years as a Senior Advocate / Staff Attorney at Disability Rights California in the public benefits unit
- Public policy internship at Disability Rights Legal Center
Trainings/Certifications:
- Juris Doctor
- CA State Bar member*
- Master of Public Policy with specialization in Health and Social Policy
* I am a licensed attorney but do not engage in the practice of law within the scope of my work at Undivided. If you need legal advice, you should hire an attorney who can provide legal counsel or representation. None of my work at Undivided is intended to constitute nor be construed as legal advice, legal practice, or the establishment of an attorney-client relationship.
Specialty:
I have experience in educating families on most California agencies that serve children with disabilities, but I have a particular interest in making sure that parents understand In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS). The whole process can be very intimidating, and an understanding of basic terms and concepts can go a long way toward feeling empowered to advocate effectively for each child.
