Parent’s guide to funding your kid’s big (and small) needs

To all the families and businesses affected by the fires around Los Angeles, we are heartbroken and here to support in whatever ways we can. As many of our Undivided staff also live in the affected areas, it is personal in every way. We will be sharing relevant resources as they come and evolve. You can check out our current list of emergency resources here, including updates on school closures, evacuation shelters, and resources from the CA State Council on Developmental Disabilities. Regional Centers are encouraging families to reach out to their service coordinators and/or Family Resource Center if they are in need of support or services for their child. Please stay safe and take care of yourselves and each other. On our end, we will continue supporting families so that they can access existing and/or new needs for their children. Please reach out. We’re here.

Public benefits & private plans: the parent-friendly guide

Figuring out how to pay for your child’s medical and therapy needs is something no parent looks forward to. It can feel like an unpredictable ride, full of twists and turns — especially when your insurance throws an unexpected curveball your way. Sure, programs like Regional Center and Medi-Cal can step up when private insurance says “no,” but what’s the game plan when they’re not an option either?

We’re here to help you crack the code on covering those tricky expenses. From durable medical equipment (DME) to alternative and out-of-network therapies, we have all the savvy strategies to help you fund the care your child deserves — even if it means going down a nontraditional funding path.

Plus: read How to Use Medi-Cal as Secondary Insurance to cover what your primary insurance doesn’t — like co-pays, therapies, equipment, and more.

Parent win spotlight

One parent told their Undivided Navigator, “Oh my goodness! I have had a very stressful few days, dealing with anxiety and all the things that come with advocating for your kid — I know you understand. I wanted to take a quick minute to say that your last message brought me to tears, literally. I am so thankful for you all at Undivided. I hope you know that. <3”
