Time to book those winter camps!

As we prepare to transition into winter, there’s one looming question on our minds: what in the heck am I doing with these kids over winter break? There are only so many gingerbread men we can bake and holiday movies we can watch with our kiddos — what about the rest of the time? Finding ways to occupy winter break with activities might include finding the perfect winter camp for our kiddos (and registering early because they fill up fast!).

The holiday season can be extra stressful for us and our families — especially when some of our kids have unique needs, preferences, or habits, and not every camp or holiday activity is accessible, safe, or inclusive. You may be thinking that 3+ weeks of holiday fun means your kids are home THE WHOLE TIME. Think again!

’Tis the season for…accessible winter camps!

We’ve rounded up a suite of virtual & in-person day & sleepaway winter camps in California — from therapy-based play to social skills to STEAM and adaptive skiing — accessible for our kids and their unique needs. We want you to enjoy your holidays with the reassurance that you can do this.

And remember, options for winter camps aren’t as robust as summer, and very few are specifically therapeutic, so the time to book is now!

Check out the list of accessible winter break camps put together by the Undivided Research Team!

One Undivided member tells Undivided, “I signed up for help navigating the daunting world of public benefits, and my Navigator was organized, thorough, and proactive. But what ended up being of equal, if not greater value, was her emotional support. To be able to share fears and triumphs with someone who has walked a similar road is priceless.”

Interested in working with an early childhood support coach for FREE behavioral support via text? The Family Advice and Support Text and Telephone (FASTT) team is partnering with Undivided to give you guidance that fits into your busy schedule (and your purse!). If you have a child age 10 and under in California, fill out this form to get more information. Undivided and FASTT have received a grant, in partnership with the University of Oregon, to offer this great service for free for a limited time.

Parents, it’s that time of year again — winter break: the season of holiday music, steamy mugs of hot chocolate, cozy sweaters, and, ‘mom, I’m bored!’ And while a few weeks of holiday cheer sounds great in theory, it can also mean three weeks of “home time” for the kids. But guess what? It doesn’t …
